Old Crimanal Cases From 2000 &2001?

Question by paulbenavent: Old crimanal cases from 2000 &2001?
After 6-7 years The Miami-Dade clerk of courts has decided to send me 2 letters stating that I have unpaid court costs to take care of. As of 12/02/02 I have been married and have stayed out of trouble and held the same job for that same period of time. Before that I was homeless for 3 yrs and have spent about 2 years (on & off) in jail. My question is that, I dont understand, I figured I paid my debt to society for driving on a suspended license, petit theft and grand theft for stealing some merchandise from a department store to support drug addiction at the time. I thought all that was behind me!
Now it seems to be back to haunt me, not to mention I still expect to hear from the clerk of courts about 20 more times since I was arrested quite a few times over that period in my life (which thank God is over) and will probably drive me to jail or homelessness again as I can hardly pay my bills as it is.
Can anyone help with this little problem?

I am sorry to hear about your troubles. It sounds as if the court cost should have been taken care of by time served. Unfortunatly it does sound as if you should consult a lawyer, although it may be less expensive to simply make a payment plan with the court clerk. Good Luck
