Social Anxiety Disorder? Help?

Question by Frost: Social Anxiety Disorder? Help?
I’m 15 and I’m sure that I have Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). I have a good small group of friends that are always there for me, and I became friends with them when I was really little, and before I had Social Anxiety Disorder. I’ve been fighting SAD for a long time now, and whenever people come up to me for small talk, I get all nervous and shaky. Also, whenever I have to present a project or something in front of a class, my voice gets shaky, and I feel like losing my balance. I’m always scared of looking stupid in front of people, like whenever I pass a group of people I feel like I’m walking strangely, and losing my balance and falling. My forehead also feels heavy when I’m sitting in class, and I can never smile to random people, and if I ever do, my face feels like it’s shaking.

I’ve never talked to anyone about it, not my parents, brother, or friends. People describe me as a really quiet kid, that never talks. Social Anxiety has been affecting my life for a long time and I just really want some help, please… 🙁

I used to suffer from SAD myself and let me tell you this will pass one day. I think it has more to do with you being 15 and uncomfortable with yourself rather than you actually having SAD. If you really had it like I did, you wouldn’t even be able to bring yourself to talk to the friends you say you have. Everyone your age feels insecure and always thinks everyone is looking at them and judging them. I know this is simple advice but it really does work. Just RELAX and be yourself. In 10 years, no one is going to remember anything about you so what do you really have to worry about? Just go out and enjoy life.
Good luck
