Topotecan and Cisplatin….my oncologist called me last week…one week after my last treatment to see how i was and if my neuropathy had gotten any worse…he was in Miami…anyways at the time it was OK..but now I feel it has gotten worse and am reluctant to tell him for fear that he will lower my dose…lessening my chances for remission…SO here is my QUESTION:: What are the consequences of having neuropathy and it getting worse…in the long run….if you know…Thank You

well, dear, first and foremost, you HAVE to be completely honest with your doctor no matter what. If you keep things from him/her, his/her hands are tied.
Did you start on Ethyol before beginning treatments? that is supposed to help.
Have you had your magnesium, folate, B-12 and thyroid checked recently?
Are you on antidepressant or anticonvulsant, these are supposed to help with neuropathy during cancer treatments.
You need to ask HIM/HER this question and it should be up to YOU whether or not you want your dose lowered or if you are willing to take the chances involved with it worsening, though I must say I have NO CLUE regarding that.. I’m going to guess everyone is different.
In the meantime, please be careful and think about your neuropathy so you don’t find yourself falling and adding insult to injury.
