Drug Rehab Centers Miami: Biophysical Drug Rehab Science and the ‘War on Drugs’
Many drug addiction experts were thrilled to hear about how the government and law enforcement agencies were studying wastewater and sewage to track how people are using illegal drugs throughout the US. Most recently a report in the journal Addiction detailed a study in Oregon (2009). But this type of scientific tracking has been going on for some time, not just in the US, but all over Europe as well.
One study in 2005, for example, concluded that a population of 1.4 million adults in northern Italy was consuming roughly 40,000 doses of cocaine each day. That is an amazing amount of cocaine each day and many experts disagreed with the study’s extrapolation, but you can see where this is going.
Maybe not quite CSI Miami yet, but the simplicity of it all is that wastewater carries all of the metabolites of everything our bodies ingest. There are a number of issues that are both fascinating as well as deeply unsettling about tracking drugs from our urine and fecal waste. One issue to ponder is how these drug ‘residue’ persist and that they are traceable and how this affects our body.
We have heard or read for years that our body excretes toxins. Today, these toxins include chemical compounds that our bodies (and the planet) have never been exposed to. The fact that they can be traced in the water says a lot about what might be happening inside of us.
When it comes to drug rehab treatment, it will be of interest that biophysical drug rehab programs have been documenting this type of situation for nearly 50 years. They have documented that these same metabolites store in the fatty tissue and other tissues in the body and can also be ‘restimulated’ (re-released) during episodes of stress, physical exertion and other metabolic functions that may break down fat cells. Why do they care about this? Cravings.
Biophysical rehab programs treat those with drug and alcohol addictions but in a way that releases these stored metabolites and toxins. They are usually long-term rehab programs lasting 90 days or more and each day a regimen of supplements, exercise and medical sauna treatment produces a type of cellular respiration. Patients regularly see and smell drug and alcohol residue on their skin and clothes; they can taste it and even have ‘highs’ turn on before it’s all over with. But by the end they report being free from the tremendous urges and cravings that are so common with today’s addictions.
A side benefit from losing all cravings is that biophysical drug rehab treatment improves general health. When these toxins and others are fully released, patients report a surge in energy levels and normalized eating and sleeping patterns. Mental clarity due to these residues being release is also quite common.
In addition to being treated physically, most biophysical rehab centers also have in-depth counseling and one on one care that surpasses the group therapy 12 step model that is prevalent in most of today’s traditional rehab centers. As such, these biophysical rehab centers have success rates that are in excess of 70% which by any measure is 3-6 times more effective than disease model treatment using 12 steps counseling and no biophysical rehab component.
